Acupressure is an ancient form of healing with it’s origins in Japan and China over 3,000 years ago.
Acupressure combines the principles of massage and acupuncture and was developed using a system of special massage on the body’s pressure points. The pressure points are located in various parts of the body and practitioners massage them firmly with the thumb, fingertips or the palm of the hand. These pressure points (or meridians) are the same as those utilized in acupuncture and Kinesiology.
Acupressure is an effective healing and preventative technique which alleviates back and digestive problems, asthma and other lung associated problems, migraine, insomnia, circulatory problems, a sluggish metabolism and general debility amongst other ailments.
During a treatment some pressure points may feel tender or sore and there may briefly be some slight discomfort.
Acupressure is said to enhance the body’s own healing processes, thereby preventing dis-ease and illness, and improving the energy levels.
