ANALGESIC: a substance that reduces or numbs pain.

ANTI-ALLERGIC: a substance that combats an allergic reaction.

ANTI-BACTERIAL:  a substance that destroys certain bacterias.

ANTI-DEPRESSANT:  a substance that helps to alleviate depression.

ANTI-FUNGAL:  a substance that destroys fungi.

ANTI-INFLAMMATORY: a substance that alleviates inflammation.

ANTI-MICROBIAL: a substance that destroys harmful micro-organisms.

ANTI-OXIDANT: a substance that reduces the deterioration or oxidation of certain materials.

ANTI-PARASITIC:  a substance that destroys parasites.

ANTI-RHEUMATIC:  a substance that helps to alleviate rheumatism.

ANTI-SEBACEOUS: a substance that reduces the flow of sebum from the sebaceous gland.

ANTI-SPASMODIC: a substance that relieves muscle spasms.

ANTI-VIRAL: a substance that is effective against illness-causing viruses.

HYPNOTIC: a substance which may cause sleep and/or a trance-like state.

LAXATIVE: a substance that increases the frequency of elimination from the bowels.

STIMULANT: a substance that increases the activity in a function or body system.

TONIC: a substance that promotes well-being in  the whole, or in specific parts of the body.
